Currently in our chemistry class at ZLO, we are studying the structure of the atom. I go through this unit in an historical setting. We start with the simple idea of a solid atom and follow the experiments and reasoning through the Rutherford concept of an atom with mostly empty space, the Bohr atom of specific electron orbits, to a concept of electrons being standing waves with various specific energies.

I believe everyone should have a notion of the atom, especially a Christian, since it reveals a critical aspect of the Creation. A verse that I use is Psalm 98:1, “Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things.
