Summer Reading Program

Summer reading is a great tradition at all Whatcom County and Bellingham Public Libraries! Early readers, kids, teens and adults can take part any time from June 1 to August 31 by downloading a Summer Reading bingo card below, setting a goal and winning a prize. Everyone can participate!

Summer Reading at Bellingham Public Library

Join us on our 2019 summer reading adventure, hosted by Doug, the Slug, and Sparky, the Bug, of Slugs & Bugs, June 3 to Aug. 31. We want to help you and your family promote the love of reading in your home as well as encouraging the love of God’s Word through reading His Scripture. This program is geared toward grades 1 through 6 and even toddlers, ages 1 to 5, but all are welcome to join in the adventure.

Lifeway Summer Reading Program

BOOK IT! motivates children to read by rewarding their reading accomplishments with praise, recognition and pizza. The program is simple, flexible, fun and free to use in your classroom! BOOK IT! was created in 1984 and currently reaches more than 14 million students and 37,000 K-6 grade schools annually.

The Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Challenge is a free program designed to be both educational and fun to help prevent the effects of the summer slideā€”the learning losses that can occur during the summer months.

Over the course of 18 weeks, kids can enter their summer reading minutes online, unlocking digital rewards as they complete weekly reading challenges; and access book excerpts, videos, and other summer-exclusive content.
