Whatcom Community College is offering the following two programs again this year:


Guys & Guts – March 10, 2018

Program is for middle school boys

Saturday, March 10, 2018, 9 am – 3 pm. 

Open to middle school boys, Whatcom Community College’s Guys & Guts workshop is back by popular demand. Students will enjoy hands-on labs in which they:

  • Draw ‘blood’ from an artificial arm
  • Examine a simulation manikin patient
  • Experience paraffin wax physical therapy
  • Touch a real human skeleton
  • And more!

Cost: $10 (includes a commemorative t-shirt for you and lunch for you and your accompanying parent/guardian). Scholarships may be available for students if the fee will be a financial burden.


Girls Go Tech – April 14, 2018

Program is for middle school girls

Saturday, April 14, 2018, 9 am – 3 pm.

Open to middle school girls, Whatcom Community College’s Girls Go Tech workshop is back by popular demand! Enjoy hands-on labs in which you will:

  • Apply knowledge learned about circuits to wire a scaled down model of a room
  • Using a bicycle as a power generator, experience how much energy is required for incandescent versus LED light bulbs
  • Use Scratch to program your own interactive stories, games and animations
  • Learn about small, but powerful, Raspberry Pi computers

Cost: $10 (includes a commemorative t-shirt for you and lunch for you and your parent/guardian). Scholarships may be available for students if the fee will be a financial burden.
